Arizona Renaissance Festival coming this month

February 12, 2014 by

One of the largest Renaissance Festival in the country has arrived in the Phoenix area this month. Just a 25-minute drive from Mesa, the Festival proves to be a fun and interesting event for people of all ages year after year, and this year promises to be no different.

As in prior years, the Festival is playing host to 13 stages of continuous live entertainment, an open-air circus, and a medieval arts and crafts fair. There will also be three jousting tournaments each day, as well as the traditional day-long feast where people can chow down as was done in the days of yore. The Festival has grown to the point that it has become a large fantasy village with buildings created to look like those of the Renaissance period in Europe.

Attendees are encouraged to wear 16th Century costumes to add to the fantasy of the experience and to bring cameras for taking lots of pictures, some of which might be used for postcard printing or the creation of digital business cards.

The Festival is being held at the Arizona Renaissance Festival Fairegrounds, 12601 E. Highway 60, Gold Canyon. Having got underway on February 8, it continues through March 4 and runs from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Gate admission will be $22 Adult, $12 child (ages 5-12) – those under five get in free.
