Chinese New Year variety show coming to Chandler

January 14, 2014 by

Chandler residents are invited to embrace the diversity of their community by attending a special cultural performance at a local venue.

Later this month, the Chinese New Year Show will be returning to the Chandler Center for the Arts. A print company is likely to be in charge of producing promotional flyers for this annual event at the moment.

Chandler’s own Eastern Art Academy will once again be presenting the show in conjunction with the Confucius Institute at Arizona State University. Students from the performing arts school will entertain the audience with renditions of traditional Chinese dances. The performers will be wearing authentic, brightly-colored costumes and use ribbons and fans as props. Some of these dancers will be as young as four years old.

The evening’s lineup will also include martial arts demonstrations, musical performances, and magic tricks from a number of regions in China. Members of the Chandler Children’s Choir will take the stage to sing several Chinese songs.

The Chinese New Year Show will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 19. Families with small children are encouraged to attend. Tickets will be available in advance or on the evening of the event for $15 per person. Attendees will be welcome to choose whichever seats they wish upon their admittance to the theater.

The Chandler Center for the Arts is located at 250 North Arizona Avenue, just off West Chandler Boulevard. The venue offers outdoor parking at no cost. Those wishing to purchase tickets may do so online or call the box office at (480) 782-2680.
