Southgate rocks for peace

June 15, 2017 by

Peace Slam 2017 is almost upon us. This multimedia event brings together music, art, and social causes into one festival.

The slam features art installations, musical performances, and presentations. This year the big presentations will be given by Footprints for Peace and the Fernside Children’s Grief Center. Footprints for Peace is an event-organizing group that creates a number of runs and other active events throughout the year to further the cause of peace. The Fernside Children’s Grief Center is one of the leading providers of grief support services to children and families in the Greater Cincinnati and North Kentucky Area. They will also provide brochures and other literature detailing their work.

The concert line-up this year features Floyd and the Walkmen, a genre blending band that fuses Indie, Rock, Hip Hop, Funk, and Blues, Swim Team, a thrash-pop group based out of Cincinnati, Echoes Past, an 80’s tribute band, and Glenn and Lisa Ginn, a duo that perform a variety of Americana Music. No announcement has been made about the types of art installations that will be present at the event.

Peace Slam 2017 will be held on July 7 starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Southgate House Revival, located at 111E. 6th St. Tickets cost $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
