WV Race Day in West Virginia

April 11, 2012 by

On Saturday, April 21st, West Virginia will be hosting the “WV Susan G Komen Race for the Cure” starting at the South Charleston Community Center located at 601 Jefferson Road in South Charleston, WV. This event starts at 8am and ends at 1pm.

This is a breast cancer fundraiser with the pre-race registration. Events taking place during the pre-registration process include a blood drive called “Bleed for the Cure”. This provides participants with the opportunity to share for a good cause. There will also be a number of fun “Pink” events that will allow participants to earn a discount on their race registration and be eligible to participate in “Sleep In for a Cure”. Donations of blood will be collected by the American Red Cross.

Each registered runner will receive a free “WV Susan G Komen Race for the Cure” t-shirt, as well as a sleep in gift as a way to thank them for joining this life saving event. The proceeds raised from this West Virginia race will be saving lives in West Virginia communities. Participants are asked to dress comfortably, wear good sturdy running shoes, and to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a sweater in case of cool weather. This event will have live music, refreshments, and plenty of planning events for participants to enjoy. Information about breast cancer and what is being done to find a cure will be available as well.

Print companies may have prepared the registration forms as they are now available at various locations. For more information about the race or registering for the event, please visit the komenwv website or call 744-4731.
