Avid golfers in South Charleston will have the chance to play their favorite sport and help a good cause on last this week, during the ‘Blues on Greens’ golf tournament.

The tournament will take place as part of the Charlie West Blues Fest, a two-day music festival featuring acts such as Ana Popovic and Kim Wilson & The Famous Thunderbirds. The festival has confirmed West Virginia Blues Society as its sponsor.

The Blues on Greens golf tournament is open to golfers of all ages. The participation fee is $150 per golfer, which includes breakfast, lunch and a gift bag. Generous golfers can sponsor a hole for an additional $300.

The tournament also welcomes sponsorships from local businesses, and the organizers are offering several levels of sponsorship, ranging from a $1,000 donation to a $8,500 donation. Banner printing and a full-page ad in the Blues Fest program are included at the Silver Star ($4,000 donation) and Medal of Honor ($8,500 donation) levels. The banners are displayed on the stage at the festival. A half-page ad and a banner in a tent at the festival are included with a $1,000 donation.

Money raised from the tournament will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project – a project supporting veterans who were wounded during service in Afghanistan and Iraq. Last year’s golf tournament raised $10,000 for the organization.

The tournament will take place at the Edgewood Country Club starting at 10:00 am this Thursday, May 16. The Blues Fest will follow on May 17 and 18 at the bandshell on the Kanawha River.
