The Memphis in May International Festival will feature several events during the month in downtown Memphis.

The festival starts off with the Beale Street Music Festival, which this year will feature some well-known acts such as the Black Keys, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and ZZ Top. Three-day passes or individual tickets are available for the May 3 – 5 event.

Also, throughout the month of May, the Salute to Sweden will feature exhibits at various public buildings, museums and galleries. The event will also feature an international gala with the theme of ‘Nordic Nights’ on May 10, starting at 6:30 pm. Held at the Peabody Hotel, it will consist of a cocktail reception and dinner. The 2013 Teacher’s Conference will also be taking place all month.

The 36th annual World Championship BBQ Cooking contest will also be taking place from May 16 – 18. Over 250 teams from all over the world will be competing for cash and prizes totaling over $110,000. To enjoy seeing what mouthwatering mealtime greatness the teams can serve up, tickets are priced at £8

Finally, the month will finish off with the Sunset Symphony on May 25, which will feature fireworks and a performance by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Tickets are available for $8 each.

Organizers of these events will likely be working with Memphis printing companies to prepare and to advertise, with posters likely to be found around the city during the build-up. For more information about any of these events, call 901-525-4611.
