West Tennessee recognizes a score of influential women

The 2013 Sterling Awards will be handed out at a reception on Equal Pay Day this April.

The award reception is presented by the Jackson Sun and the Jackson Area Business and Professional Women. Twenty of the most influential females from West Tennessee will be recognized for their leadership accomplishments, creativity, business successes and dedication to community service.

They were nominated by members of the public who had to provide a one-page summary as to why the woman deserved the award, together with a copy of her current resume. The winners were then chosen by a board of selectors.

This event will be an ideal opportunity for Jackson business and community leaders to network. Many who plan to attend will no doubt arrange for business card printing in advance of the reception. Preparation is the key at events like this, so turning up with an inadequate supply of creased, out-of-date cards could only create a poor impression.

There is bound to be plenty of time to discuss business, or talk about upcoming charity events both before and after the awards are handed out. Those who attend will also be introduced to the accomplishments of many women who they might consider to be role models to follow.

The Sterling Awards reception will be held at the J. Walter Barnes Conference Center on April 9, beginning at 6:00 pm. Those who need further information, such as ticket prices, can call the Jackson Sun at 731-427-3333.
