March takes place in April in Jackson

April 12, 2013 by

The Jackson March for Babies is to take place later this month and will help raise funds to prevent premature births.

The March has been held in various communities nationwide since 1970. Today, more than 40 years later, the event has raised over $2bn dollars for the March of Dimes.

This year, the day will be kicked off by a Breakfast for Babies at the Baker’s Rack. All tips and a portion of money raised from the breakfast buffet will go to help support the March for Babies. The event will feature local celebrity servers.

The March, which will take place a week later, will be a 3.5 mile walk. Participants raise funds from their friends, family, co-workers, and local community. Those who raise at least $200 will receive a T-shirt and participants who reach the $350 mark will receive a gift card too.

No doubt many Jackson businesses will want to form teams to help raise funds for this worthy event. They might even work with local printing companies to design and print incentives for their staff to take part or to donate funds. For example, a certificate of completion could be awarded, or one for donating the most funds.

The Breakfast for Babies will take place on April 19. Admission is $8 in advance or $10 at the door. The Jackson March for Babies will then follow at Union University on April 27 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. For more information on both of these events, call 731-668-1023.
