Raleigh named a leading city in two categories

Raleigh has recently won recognition as a great place for jobseekers, and as a city that offers success in business.

The ‘City of Oaks’ is one of 10 cities that offers an encouraging outlook for those seeking work. There are a number of factors that lead to this positive view, according to NerdWallet.com, a financial website. These include cost of living, growth of the community, and availability of jobs. The site listed 10 cities, two in North Carolina—Charlotte is listed just ahead of Raleigh.

Raleigh won the honor because of the presence here of many research and development firms, exemplified by the Research Triangle Park, an area teeming with high-tech and scientific companies. Other factors in the selection include the fact that Raleigh hosts the Center for Employment Training, which teaches vocational skills by giving students hands-on experience; and North Carolina State University’s career development center.

The second honor for Raleigh is to be named one of the cities in which businesses are likely to succeed in 2014. This comes from Business Review USA, an online publication. Here, the factor that won Raleigh a place on the list include the fact that entrepreneurs want to create businesses here because the city has an extremely well-educated workforce, and because it offers a great quality of life for families.

Business Review mentioned Research Triangle Park as another reason why businesses succeed in Raleigh, and also found the city’s educational system to be very impressive.

City officials could work with brochure printers to create a mailer for entrepreneurs pointing out the advantages of starting their business here.
