Raleigh Convention Center Complex has new manager

Ruffin Hall, Raleigh’s city manager, recently announced that Kerry Painter will join the city as the general manager and director of the city’s Convention Center complex.

The City of Raleigh owns the complex, which comprises the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, the Red Hat Amphitheater, and the Raleigh Convention Center. All three venues are located downtown. The fourth part of the complex is the Coastal Credit Union Music Park, located in Walnut Creek. When new officials assume positions like this, they might want to work with stationery printers to create appropriate letterheads for their use.

Currently, Painter is in Tulsa, where she is the Cox Business Center’s assistant general manager. She has been with the Cox facility since 2013, and in 2017, it won the Venue Excellence Award, which is given by the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) to individuals and venues who have demonstrated excellence in managing and operating public areas.

Hall said that Painter has been recognized for her innovation in managing facilities, and has done a lot of work in performing arts and concert venues, as well as convention centers. He added he was looking forward to having her join Raleigh’s management team, and believes she will continue the good work in Raleigh that she has begun in Tulsa and elsewhere.

The University of Michigan awarded Painter a bachelor’s degree in communication arts, economics, and management.
