Retailers combine to offer cold foods

Family Dollar Stores, Inc. of Matthews, North Carolina recently announced that it will be partnering with McLane, a leading provider of grocery and food service items in the United States, to provide its customers with a broader selection of merchandise, beginning in September.

Family Dollar is no doubt using poster printing and flyer printing to make this announcement to its current and potential customers so as to increase the traffic to its stores.

According to the Chairman and CEO of Family Dollar Stores, Howard R. Levine, this strategic partnership with McLane will enable their army of more than 7,200 stores in 45 states to offer more products which are relevant to its customers’ needs, such as frozen and refrigerated foods. He added that the company’s growth initiatives will be supported by the broad distribution network and national footprint which are the hallmark of McLane Grocery.

President of McLane Grocery, Mike Youngblood, added that this partnership with Family Dollar Stores is also is good opportunity for his company. 19 of the company’s distribution centers will be involved in servicing the Family Dollar Stores and the company will be able to offer a variety of cold chain solutions and many other products.

Levine added that the nature of the McLane supply chain will enable Family Dollar to tailor its offerings and assortment of products to the local market. This is a growing segment of the company’s business and the partnership with McLane will also insure that consistent service in frozen and refrigerated merchandise will be maintained.
