Patriotic event celebrates military service men and women

The 2012 Spirit of America will be held in Greensboro on September 14 and 15 at the Greensboro Coliseum. The address is 1921 W. Lee St. and the event starts at 10:30 am on Friday morning, then on Saturday, it will start an hour earlier at 9:30 am. The second performance on Friday and Saturday will start at 7:30 pm.

Presentations by the active soldiers of the U.S. Army will begin with historical accounts from the soldiers’ perspective using historical reenactments. There will also be a precision military drill and musical entertainment.

Some of the soldier’s diaries and letters will be used to provide the storyline for the powerful drama presentation that will be held in two cities this year; Columbia, S.C. and Greensboro, N.C.

Other features of the event will be demonstrations by the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment soldiers, musical selections by the U.S. Army Band, and the Caisson Platoon will also be in attendance, along with the U.S. Army Drill Team. The Spirit of America will celebrate the strength of the nation with historic narration, stirring music, and live action dramatizations by the women and men that have vowed to defend and protect the United States of America

Print companies will likely be finishing up the flyer printing for advertising the military event. Admission is free, but ticketing for the specific location must be obtained from the venue.
