Anchor stores for Parkside Town Common announced

The Parkside Town Commons project, to be located at Interstate 540 and N.C. 55 in Cary, will have its first phase anchored by Target and Harris Teeter. Developer, Kite Realty who also broke the news that construction would commence early this year, expects the first phase will be completed and ready to open in 2014.

Phase 1 is to be 250,000 square feet, while a second phase, started later in the year will be 330,000 square feet. Golf Galaxy, CineBowl & Grill, and Frank Theatres will anchor the second phase, as well as a currently unknown tenant purported to be connected to outdoor activities.

Kite Realty is making a major investment in the Triangle. In addition to the 125-acre Parkside deal, Kite is also in mid construction of Holly Springs Towne Center, adjacent to the N.C. 55 Bypass. Holly Springs will have a 377,000 first phase with Marshalls, Michaels, Target, Pier 1, SportClips, Petco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and several other small stores already signed on. The second phase has, so far, a movie theater planned with room available for other shops.

Both Parkside Town Commons and Holly Springs Towne Center are built near the new N.C. 540 extension. That 18.8-mile toll road, the last of which opened in December of 2012, connects to Research Triangle Park, which is the region’s largest job location. The toll road in conjunction with the two new shopping centers is expected to jump-start residential construction for southwestern and western Wake County – thereby producing more jobs and aiding the local economy.

Those driving by either site should keep their eyes open for announcement of additional stores, opening dates, and job opportunities as banner printing for retail establishment will likely soon go into high gear.
