Technical college in Statesboro receives award of excellence

December 12, 2015 by

Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro has been named by the Technical College System of Georgia State Board as the recipient of its Sonny Perdue Award for 2015.

The award was established in 2010 and this is the second occasion on which the College has received this award.

According to the Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia, Gretchen Corbin, this honor is a well-deserved one for the College and both the faculty and staff who, under the strong leadership of President Dawn Cartee, have consistently exceeded their goals. She added that the real winners are the students, who get an excellent education that provides them with the skills they need for careers with good companies.

President Cartee commented that she was very proud to accept the award on behalf of the board, faculty, staff, and students of the college, without whose support achieving this milestone would not have been possible.

Some of the factors that went into the selection of Ogeechee Technical College for the award include the highest graduation rate in the public technical college system of Georgia, the second highest retention rate of students, and the third highest pass rate for licensure.

The College may look to local print companies to make sure that the mention of this award is included in brochures about its academic programs.
