Call goes out to Snellville veterans

May 5, 2013 by

Organizers of the 2013 Dacula Memorial Day have issued a call to veterans from Snellville and all around the local area, to come join in the parade and be honored.

Picking up on the two decades the event has been running, the theme for the popular parade this year is ‘20 Years of Honor and Remembrance’.

The organizers of the parade are looking for heroes of all wars to participate, with poster and flyer printing likely to take place to raise the profile of the festivities in local towns, villages and cities.

Anyone wishing to take part is urged to make contact at the earliest opportunity, as seats on the special float will be limited.

This year, the float will be provided by local businessman Jerome Beggs. Representing the Buford Corn Maze, Beggs has offered up a wagon from his work which will be the sole preserve of the veterans.

The parade is the highlight of the day, but there will be a good deal going on for all spectators too. There will also be the ever popular festival to mark the day, which will see stalls from local arts and crafts makers. Many folks will be attending for the music festival too, which again will see local and state-wide famed artists perform sets across the genres.

With Miss Memorial Day pageants for baby to 16 year-olds and those from 17 up too, there is much going on this year.

This year’s show, the 20th running of the annual event, takes place on Monday, May 27, from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm.
