Peachtree City’s 2012 Dragon Boat Race approaches

September 7, 2012 by

This year’s Dragon Boat Race is fast approaching, with registrations for teams wishing to take part now open. 2012 will see the fifth running of the event and is sure to attract a large crowd once again.

Registration for each team, which is made up of ten rowers and one drummer, costs $600 and teams are urged to practice. Training runs from now through September 15 at the All Children’s Playground behind City Hall for all taking part.

Because of the event proving such a success over the years, the Rotary Club will be introducing a range of new equipment for each team to use. This year will also see the first running of the new lightweight ten-paddler boats.

Throughout the day, there will also be a great deal of other entertainment on offer, with performers, craft vendors, and a host of international foods. Any local business wanting to take part or sponsor the festival can contact the organizing team to arrange a stall. The festival will also see the traditional Kids Korner.

The event has proven a great marketing success for local companies, with the stalls offering a great chance for advertising, perhaps with the help of print companies. From displaying company stationery, to handing out business cards, printing demands will certainly be high.

The Peachtree City Rotary Club event takes place on Saturday, September 22, at Drake Field. The team places will probably be taken up fast and any amateurs worried about taking part can have their minds put at ease, with full training, life jackets, and expert organizers on hand to help.
