Newnan event to shine a light on its past

The Newnan-Coweta Historical Society will be hosting a special opportunity for local history buffs to learn more about the community they call home from a historical perspective.

The group will be offering guided tours of Oak Hill Cemetery that will offer insight into Newnan’s early days. Ticket start at $11 each, and all ages are welcome to take part in the walk. It is advised that anyone who comes out for the occasion should wear shoes that are comfortable for walking.

A variety of start times have been made available so that the public can choose the one that is best for them. They will meet at McRitchie-Hollis Museum, and the tour itself will run for one hour. The guides will provide details about some of the area’s most prominent early citizens, and that is just the start of the fun to be had by those who take part.

The museum will be offering entertainment, exhibits, and refreshments, and a small arts festival has also been included in the agenda for the occasion. Custom banner printing services for this type of function can be supplied by an area printer.

October 27 has been set as the date for this activity, and groups will head out for one of the cemetery tours every 20 minutes. The event will run from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
