Preliminary designs sought for new Fayetteville fire station

Fayetteville officials have hired Hogan Construction Group to create preliminary designs for a new fire station, to be located on Veterans Parkway, next to Pinewood Atlanta Studios.

The new station will be designated Fire Station #93, and will replace the station at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital campus, which is a temporary facility. The new station is the third built specifically for the fire department, with funding coming from SPLOST revenue, along with impact fees. This is important information for residents, so officials opening a new site like this could work with a brochure printing company to explain its function.

The oldest station in the Fayetteville Fire Department is #91, which was built in 1981. It stands at the intersection of South Glynn Street (Highway 85) and Johnson Avenue, and comprises about 10,000 square feet. Currently, it is used as the headquarters for the department.

Station #92 was built in 1996, and is located along Pavilion Parkway, in the center of the Fayette Pavilion shopping center. The station was located there to serve the growing commercial and residential population segments on the city’s north side. Originally, Station #92 doubled as the north precinct of the Fayetteville Police Department.

The building currently serving as Station #93 is an existing residence owned by Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and operated by the facility. The Fayetteville Fire Department leased the building in 2014, occupying it as part of Fayetteville’s strategy to deliver services more efficiently.
