With just weeks to go until the 2014 Greater Gwinnett Championship, Duluth print companies have no doubt rushed to get the tickets and player credentials printed up. Played just a week after the U.S. Masters at Augusta National, local folks are sure to pack the viewing galleries for the golf spectacle.

It is the second running of the championship at TPC Sugarloaf, following last year’s inaugural event. The 2013 Championship saw Bernard Langer take the title, as he shot a final round 67 to win by three shots.

Some of the biggest names ever to play the game of golf have committed to play in the event this year. As well as last year’s champion, the 81-strong field will include the likes of Mark Calcavecchia, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle, Mark McNulty, Corey Pavin, and Curtis Strange.

With a $1.8m purse, the field will be competing for the title over three rounds of the Greg Norman-designed course. Played in a stroke play arrangement, the 54 holes will be played by all 81 players with no cut going into the weekend.

As well as the full championship, the course will also play host to the Matt Ryan Celebrity-AM Classic and the Executive Women’s Day. That takes place on Monday April 14, with free entry to spectators.

The championship itself will get underway on Thursday, April 17, and run through Sunday, April 20.
