Local charities to benefit from chili cook-off

The annual Chili for Charity event is returning to Winter Park later this week. This popular annual event is presented by the Rotary Club of Winter Park, for which it acts as a fundraiser.

So far, 15 area restaurants have signed up to compete in the chili contest. They will be providing the public with samples of their chili while competing for prizes. In addition, drinks and desserts will also be available. Throughout the evening, jazz music from the Papa Jack Express will keep the crowd entertained and there will be a live auction. The auction will include prizes such as travel packages, a YMCA membership, and a barbecue.

The Rotary Club awards grants to several local charities each year. In 20 years, it has raised over $600,000.

It is likely that many of the contestants will want to draw attention to their tables. This might involve hanging banners or signs extolling their chili and promoting their business. Winter Park stationery printers are often hired to create such items.

Chili for Charity is taking place at the Winter Park Farmers’ Market on February 26 from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25 each in advance, $30 at the door, or $225 for 10. Patron packages are also available for $125 each, and this includes four tickets and recognition in the event program. For more information, call 407-716-1067.
