Crime fighting night helping to keep Sunrise safe

July 28, 2012 by

The Office of City Policing is presenting the National Night Out Against Crime in Sunrise at the Public Safety Building on August 7 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Admission is free.

Several activities will be taking place at the National Night Out, including live music, police demonstrations, police equipment displays, community information, child finger printing, and games. Sunrise printing companies will no doubt be helping the organizers to prepare by providing such services as banner printing, flyer printing, and poster printing. The community organizations that will be on hand will most likely want to create a booklet or a flyer to give out to those who require more information.

National Night Out Against Crime will be taking place in several cities in the United States and Canada. The event is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. They provide promotional items such as T-shirts, calendars, banners, and balloons to interested local participants. The point of National Night Out Against Crime is to “promote neighborhood spirit” and to foster a positive relationship between the citizens and the police.

Events such as this help to show citizens that they are not alone in their neighborhood and that everyone wants to live in a safe town or city. Knowing what types of crime-fighting tools and services are available in their communities should help to give them confidence. Crime does not go away because some choose to ignore it, it must be fought with every tool at society’s disposal, making events like this especially important.
