Book fair to draw authors to Miami

October 25, 2013 by

The 30th annual Miami Book Fair International is taking place for eight days next month, and is a presentation of The Center for Literature and Theatre @ Miami Dade College.

The fair consists of two parts: the book fair itself and a street fair. The former will feature top-selling authors such as Dan Brown, who will read from their works and sign autographs in its ‘Evening with…’ series. The street fair is set to offer a wide variety of activities such as the Festival of Authors, in which over 350 authors will discuss their books and read excerpts. There will also be a Children’s Alley with arts and crafts, theater, and storytelling. The School of Comics, meanwhile, is dedicated to graphic novels and comic books.

Over 250 publishers and booksellers, including those that feature antiquarian books, will be selling their wares to those in attendance. Various literary and educational organizations are also expected to be on hand to provide information to the community.

The book fair is bound to attract book lovers from all over the area, including North Miami Beach. Local print companies have likely been asked to provide marketing materials such as flyers.

The Miami Book Festival International will take place from November 17 – 24. Brown will be appearing at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts on November 17 beginning at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 each.

The street fair will take place from November 22 to 24, and admission is free on the first day and $8 for adults or $5 for students and seniors on the remaining days. To learn more, call 305-237-3258.
