New research facility opens in Jupiter

The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience has recently opened on the Florida Atlantic University campus in Jupiter. The Max Planck Institutes make up Germany’s leading researcher of neurological disease and there are already 80 of them in various cities around the world. The Jupiter facility is the first one to open in the United States.

The Florida government went to great lengths to convince the Institute to open in Florida. It is estimated that the government promised $1bn in incentives. The facility will also receive an additional $10m in funding over four years from the German government and the Max Planck Society.

The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience will be studying brain processes in order to try to find cures and treatments for such diseases as schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s. At least one Nobel prize winner will be on the staff in Jupiter. It is very likely that local printing companies will be helping to inform the local community of happenings in the Institute – possibly though flyer printing or brochure printing services.

The fact this facility is opening in Florida has been seen as an economic push and it is estimated that it could eventually create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. It is expected to bring almost $1bn back into the economy over the next few years. In addition to the employment opportunities, the fact the Institute is studying and trying to wipe out neurological conditions, some of which can devastate lives, is a great coup for Florida.
