Strings to lead to exciting student performance

February 11, 2014 by

The upcoming ‘Festival of Strings’ features the various string ensembles of the Jump Start Strings, the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Douglas Anderson School for the Arts, and the Lavilla School for the Arts. Services like poster printing are likely to have helped spread the word about this exciting youth student event to people all across the area.

Scott Greg will be the principal conductor and is Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Music Director. He will guide the youth string students as they perform the Foundation, JSYO’s Overture, Premiere and Encore Strings, and the Jump Start strings, which includes violin students and the ensembles from both schools of arts. The grand finale of this event will feature more than 300 students on stage to perform.

This is an opportunity for people to come out and support their local students and enjoy an orchestral performance. Guests are reminded to bring their cameras and capture the students’ efforts.

Tickets cost $5 per person in advance. The Festival of Strings will be happening on Sunday, February 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts located at 300 West Water Street in Jacksonville, Florida. To find out more about the festival, please visit the orchestra’s website or call the hosting venue’s box office at 904-633-6110.
