Grades for Grapes to raise money for high school seniors

The 11th annual Grades for Grapes food and wine tasting event will be hosted by the Hollywood Florida Scholarship Foundation and the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce later this week at the Hollywood Beach Marriott. No doubt these two organizations are using flyer printing to send out to as many people as possible so money can be raised for college scholarships.

Those who attend the event will be treated to gourmet food from local restaurants, wines from around the world, music with a Caribbean theme, and a silent auction for items like certificates for restaurants, hotel stays, and spa packages. There will also be a raffle in which the grand prize is a 10-day luxurious Caribbean cruise for two on the Oceania Riviera, with a value of $8,000.

The two organizations started the Grades for Grapes event in 2003 and, since then, have raised more than $250,000 in scholarship money for 250 high school seniors who want to continue with their educational exertions but need financial assistance to do so.

As a non-profit organization, the Hollywood Florida Scholarship Foundation is dedicated to providing seniors in the area of South Broward with the opportunity to attend college after they have exhausted all other means of finding financial assistance. Often, the Foundation continues its support of students throughout their four years of college provided they keep up the GPA needed and still show themselves to be in financial need.

The fundraising event will take place this Friday, September 20.
