The annual “Christmas Near the Beach” event took place on Saturday December 14th in the late afternoon and evening hours at the Arts Park in Hollywood, presented by EOJ Productions, a non-profit organization, which has been running it for seven years. No doubt the organization used flyer printing and poster printing to let the community know the event was taking place again this year.

EOJ events director, Denna McDaniel, started the event six years ago when it took place on the physical Hollywood beach. It was called “Christmas on the Beach” designed to celebrate Christmas.

This year the event took place in downtown Hollywood in the 10-acre Arts Park. Every year there is a theme to the event and this year’s theme was “Hometown Christmas”. There were vendors selling food and entertainment that included mimes, ballet shows and bands. There were also arts and crafts, Christmas carols and face painting.

According to McDaniel, admission to the event was free will and proceeds go to provide a free Christmas party to those in the surrounding communities.

Program and events manager at the Arts Park, Karl Chuck, was in charge of this year’s event. Chuck said that they provide the venue at no charge as well as the audio staff and the clean-up after the event.

Attendance at the event last year was close to 3,000 people. Many come to the event for its family-friendly environment and bring lawn chairs so they can relax and enjoy all the shows and activities.
