The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce is presenting a seminar entitled “ADA in real life and reasonable accommodation considerations” at the Hilton Miami Downtown on May 22nd from 8:30 -11:00 am. Tickets are $25 for chamber members, $40 for non-members and $50 at the door; breakfast will be provided.

The seminar will be presented by Patrick F. Martin and will be discussing responsibilities that business owner have in complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Those attending will learn how to accommodated disabled persons in the hiring process, how they may have to negotiate job duties and medical leave and how to fire a person who can no longer do their job due to their disability. They will also learn best practices in accommodating those with disabilities and will be presented with some solutions.

Everyone needs the chance to work and that includes those with physical and mental disabilities. Most employers can look past that, they do try and are willing to make certain changes on how work is done to accommodate qualified people. Seminars such as this explain exactly what is expected of employers who must follow the regulations of the ADA and helps them to find ways to help people without threatening the very existence of their business.

Those who attend can also pass on what they learned to their employees and show them that they are complying with the ADA. Businesses from all over the Greater Miami area including nearby Hialeah can arrange with local printing companies to provide poster or flyer printing services; a flyer can then be posted in public areas of the building, next to any ADA posters they might have.
