Gilda’s Club, a not-for-profit cancer support organization serving the Ft. Lauderdale and surrounding South Florida area, has a variety of activities, fundraisers and events planned for the spring and summer.

The organization is named after Gilda Radner, a comedienne who passed away from ovarian cancer. Gilda’s Club is located in Fort Lauderdale in a downtown historic home.

Fundraising events for this spring include the Red Door Luncheon fundraiser and “Live from South Florida….It’s Saturday Night.” The Red Door Luncheon will take place in Boca Raton at the Woodfield Country Club on April 27, while “Live from South Florida,” the club’s largest fundraising event, will take place in Davie at the Signature Grande on May 5. More information about this event can be obtained by visiting the website at visit

Non-profit organizations, groups and others in and around the Ft. Lauderdale area who wish to hold fundraising events may seek out the services of local printing companies to provide banner printing, flyer printing and other services in an effort to raise awareness of the event within the community or provide additional information to individuals interested in contributing to the cause.

Gilda’s Club’s most recent fundraising event, the Fourth Annual Glamour in the Garden, raised $24,000 for the organization. Highlights of the fundraising event included massages, makeovers, glass painting, a fashion show and cake decorating.

Elizabeth Wynter, director of development for Gilda’s Club South Florida, stated that funds raised at these events will help provide lectures, workshops and support-groups within the community. Gilda’s Club offers more than 50 no-cost activities for individuals of all ages who are living with cancer, as well as their friends and family.
