‘Goodbye Chilly. Hello Sunny’ was launched in New York recently, with an ice skating extravaganza at the Rockefeller Center. The campaign has been launched as part of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau’s marketing strategy for 2013.

Free skating was available for all to party from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, complete with beach umbrellas and palm trees. Beach music was played throughout the party, with models sporting swimwear and even blocks of ice with bikinis frozen inside.

According to the president of CVB, Nicki E. Grossman, Fort Lauderdale is recognized for its special events launched in New York each year. Grossman also stated that the campaign would be launched as a reminder that there is an escape from the cold winter months in New York to the award-winning beaches of Fort Lauderdale.

New York residents will be able to enter a competition to win a holiday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida while others will be given free sunglasses. The CVB winter tour will also include London and Chicago. The campaign in 2012 was ‘Defrost your Swimsuit’ and was launched in London, New York, and Toronto. The 2012 campaign won awards for its exceptional marketing.

The marketing campaign will be promoted using other media methods, including the local poster printing services of Fort Lauderdale. The $5m advertising campaign will also promote the new strategies for marketing and tourism which have been introduced by the tourism bureau. The website has also been redesigned for the campaign.
