There are several informative classes on the calendar for Doral residents this month.

All future college students who want to learn about the college process and life on a college campus can attend the workshop from 10:00 am to 1:20 pm on October 26 at the Doral City Hall, 8401 NW 53rd Terrace, Doral.

Topics to be discussed include the college application process, financial aid, scholarships and how to be financially smart with college expenses.

Speakers include Tom Myers, Daniel Rodriquez, and Nicholas Lopez. Digital business cards are useful for students to stay in contact with college financial aid and admission representatives after events like this.

Also, a professional educator course that incorporates sailing and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) will be held on Sunday, October 27, at Shake-A-Leg.

This is an eight-hour course using a curriculum called REACH, which uses inquiry based learning to provide students with hands-on studies, integrating classroom and water-based activities.

The facility is located at 2620 South Bayshore Drive in Miami, 30 minutes from Doral.

Finally, a benefit for children will also be held on Sunday at 3:00 pm to benefit Sophie’s Place; an advocacy center for children. This event will be an evening of music, food and fun and is scheduled to end at 3:00 am.

Special guests are Mr. Speed with Bob Kulick and The No. 13s, and raffle prizes will be given out throughout. The event will be held at Will Call, 700 North East Second Avenue in Miami.
