Brandon families and individuals can celebrate holiday season on their own terms

Fans of the holiday season have every reason to be excited about the weeks ahead.

Located roughly 13 miles away from Brandon, the Tampa Theatre will be hosting a cartoon movie marathon entitled Santa’s Cool Holiday Film Festival December 20, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

The website describes it this way:

“Delightful two-hour holiday program for the whole family. A retro-rocket flashback to the Sixties that’s chock-full of happy Christmas memories including vintage “Greetings From The Theater Management” ads, two charming Max Fleischer Technicolor cartoons (‘Christmas Comes But Once A Year’ and “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’), wacky 1950’s shorts like “Howdy Doody’s Christmas’, a bouncing ball animated sing-a-long to “Jingle Bells” and much, much more. All this culminates with the restored version of the hilarious 1965 retro-favorite SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS — In ‘Space Blazing’ Color!”

If the poster printing in use tells people anything, it’s that this event is something adults as well as children can enjoy. With tickets priced online at $2.00 however, it also becomes an affordable way to spend a Tuesday evening.

For Brandon residents who are more interested in holiday celebrations for adults, the SoHo Ho Ho! Charity Santa Pub Crawl is a viable option. Starting December 17th, 2011, participants will have their choice of donating $10 along with a small gift or $15 in cash.

Although it doesn’t look like the schedule has been set in stone just yet, listed pubs include SoHo Tavern, Yard of Ale, and The Dubliner. No matter how individuals hope to spend the holidays this year, there’s no shortage of options.
