Teacher of the year named by Manatee school district

At a special ceremony recently held by the Manatee Public Schools, a music teacher at the Oneco Elementary School in Bradenton, Florida, Zadda Bazzy, was named the new Educator of the Year. No doubt flyer printing and poster printing were used by the school district to make this announcement to the residents, parents, and students in the community.

This honor enables Bazzy to advance to the Teacher of the Year competition for the Florida Department of Education. In addition, from the community, she was given a 2013 Toyota Prius, which was donated by the Gettel Automotive Family of Dealerships.

At the same ceremony, the Support Employee of the Year was announced. It was the man who heads the custodial staff at the Anna Maria Elementary School, Todd Persinger, In addition to being awarded a $5,000 savings account, he will advance to the Florida Employee of the Year competition for those who are employed by school districts.

The incoming superintendent, Rick Mills, who comes from Minnesota, was present at the ceremony. Mills, who officially starts on March 20, said that he is very much looking forward to his new position. He has put together a 100-day plan and intends to be very visible, making sure he gets out and learns about the community. By thoroughly listening to the stakeholders, he feels he can better understand the challenges that the school district has as it moves forward during this exciting time in its developement.
