Print Companies in Huntsville

Huntsville, Alabama, has a strong connection to the space industry, but there’s much more to this city than rockets and space flight. Huntsville is the Madison County seat and is located largely in that region, though part of the city extends into Limestone County. The Huntsville metro area now has over 400,000 inhabitants and is home to Redstone Arsenal – which is the U.S. Army’s Aviation and Missile Command – and the Marshall Space Flight Center operated by NASA.

The aerospace connection

The Space Flight Center offers tours, where visitors can see the only full-size Space Transportation System (STS) – commonly called the space shuttle — in the world. A Saturn V rocket, the type used on moon flights, is also on display, and there are tours of Redstone Arsenal available as well. These agencies might work with brochure printers to create materials for visitors.

A city rich in history

The area’s first residents were Native Americans of the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes, who may have lived here as early as 1300. John Hunt, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, settled in the Big Spring area in 1805, which was the year a treaty among the Cherokee, Chickasaws, and federal government gave the land to the latter. LeRoy Pope bought the land and named it Twickenham; it was incorporated in 1811 and renamed Huntsville in 1812.

The city has three historic districts – Twickenham, Old Town, and Five Points. Twickenham is noted for its Greek Revival and Federal-style homes, which were designed and built in the 1800s; it has the most antebellum homes in the state of Alabama. The Old Town District boasts a variety of architectural styles, including Queen Anne and some California cottages dating from the 1820s through the early 20th Century. The newest district is Five Points, which comprises mostly bungalows built in the early 1900s, as Huntsville’s mill industry was forming. Historians and others who work to preserve these structures could work with a flyer printing company to create single sheets that provide information on the most notable buildings.

Huntsville also has a number of museums and living history sites. Among them are such unusual venues as the Harrison Brothers Hardware Store and the Huntsville Depot. The hardware store has been in business since 1879 and is the oldest such establishment in the state. Today, the Historic Huntsville Foundation operates it, but it’s still a functioning store, though volunteer craftsmen are on hand to answer questions. The railroad station was built in 1860, which makes it one of the oldest depots in the nation; it is the oldest in Alabama. The organizations and people who operate these venues might consider working with a postcard printing company to create cards for visitors to purchase.

Technology and research drives the economy

Much of Huntsville’s economy still revolves around aerospace companies and the military, but the city is also a hub of technology enterprises. The Cummings Research Park is the second largest such facility in the nation, and the fourth largest on earth. There are dozens of Fortune 500 companies in Huntsville. Such organizations will have need of materials such as business cards and letterheads on a regular basis. They can turn to stationery printers for the latter, and business card printing specialists will supply the former.
