Scottsdale local DJ presents annual Winter Wonderland Arizona

November 26, 2017 by

Local DJ Chris Birkett will once again be putting on his annual Winter Wonderland Arizona at his residence, as he has been doing for 30 years.

Over 250,000 Christmas lights will be choreographed and orchestrated to computerized music. Displays that resemble holiday cards will be enhanced with snowfall and bubbles. The Island of Misfit Toys and scenes from Frozen will be displayed in his backyard. On one side of his house, he has erected an Old Wester Christmas Town featuring a tunnel, mine shaft, and Christmas Windows. Candy canes, a brightly lit palace, gingerbread people, snowmen, and Santa’s sleigh will all be part of the light extravaganza.

Visitors will be offered hot chocolate made from the Birketts’ secret family recipe, and s’mores as long as supplies last. There will be an open fire as long as the weather permits.

Back in June of this year, the Birkett family reached a milestone and was given a Spirit Award by Mayor Jim Lane.

Winter Wonderland Arizona will take place at 814 E. Valley Vista Drive, here in Scottsdale. Although the event will be free, donations will be welcome. The holiday experience will be open to the public from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm during the month of December. Birkett suggests that visitors park on Granite Reef if they can.
