Santa Rosa hosts beerfest

Residents in Santa Rosa are raising their glasses in anticipation of the RateBeer World’s Best Beer Festival 2017. The event is a celebration of the best breweries across the globe with awards, tastings, and more.

Over 35 different brewers from around the world will congregate in Santa Rosa for the festivities, offering special one-offs, rare brews, and samples at their various booths. A ticket to the fest includes some custom drinkware, and VIP pass holders will also be treated to a 90-minute tasting session.

The event also serves as an award ceremony for the best beers worldwide. Breweries from countries such as Sweden, Japan, Belgium, Brazil, and more have been invited to the show, but who will take home the top prize is anyone’s guess. Afterward there will be a grand tasting of all the award-winning beers.

The festival also offers food vendors, a bottle share and reception called the Encomium, a barbecue, karaoke, and a special dinner for brewers only. A portion of the funds raised from the beer fest will benefit Ales for Autism.

RateBeer World’s Best Beer Festival 2017 will take place on January 28 and 29 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, located at 1350 Bennett Valley Rd. Tickets are $80 for general admission or $150 for VIP. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
