Santa Ana rolls the dice at game day

The Santa Ana Public Library is putting the finishing touches on its celebration of International Games Day.

Taking place later this month, the afternoon event will feature a mix of different types of games, along with tournaments and other activities.

The biggest draw this year is the life-sized version of CandyLand that will be set up in the Children’s Patio. Like the famous board game, participants will draw cards to move themselves forward through peppermint forests and gumdrop mountains in an effort to reach the candy castle. Some of the sweet locations will be brought to life with real confectionery for visitors to eat.

A variety of other board games will also be set up in the Learning Center, but attendees with a more competitive streak will want to check out the Higher Education Center, where a series of Monopoly mini tournaments will be held.

For visitors who prefer electronic games, the Teen Center will have video game consoles and even a VR demo kit. A Yu-Gi-Oh tournament will also be held in Meeting Room A, with fun prizes for the winners.

International Games Day will be held on November 19 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at the Santa Ana Public Library, located at 26 Civic Center Plaza. Admittance is free to the public. Anyone looking for more info should check the flyers or contact the library directly.
