Exhibit to showcase versatility of the book

The 8th annual Altered Book and Book Arts Exhibition and Auction is taking place in Marin County beginning this month and continuing for five weeks.

A fundraiser for the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (MarinMOCA), the opening reception is slated to take place on April 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Attendees will likely have to opportunity to meet some of the participating artists.

There are expected to be 50 book and art objects created by local artists and donated to the museum. Juror Mary Austin will choose the best amongst those. The items on display will also be offered as prizes in an ongoing silent auction.

A live auction and closing party will conclude the event on May 20 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funds raised will go to support MarinMOCA exhibitions and programs, which include art classes. Any auction bids will be matched by a challenge grant receive from the Donald O. and Ronald R. Collins Fund of the Marin County Foundation.

This exhibition will likely attract those interested in graphic design and art from all over Marin County, including San Rafael.

The exhibition will be on display at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art from April 15 to May 20. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 am. Call 415-506-0137 for more information.
