New hotel planned for San Diego’s downtown

An all-suites hotel featuring a rooftop bar and pool is likely to rise in San Diego soon, near the old El Cortez Hotel. Narven Enterprises, a developer based in San Diego, is taking the lead on the hotel, which will be called the Fifth & Ash Suites.

The new property will have 156 suites, approximately 300-350 square feet each. There will also be a restaurant on the premises that will serve both the guests and neighborhood residents. On top of the hotel a roof deck is planned. The area will be split into two levels, with the west side, which will be at the 15th floor, devoted to a lounge and bar. The east side will be at the level of the 16th floor, where a pool is planned.

It hasn’t been decided whether or not the hotel will have an independent operator, or become affiliated with an already-established hotel brand. The developer did say, however, that it is expected the suites will go for between $229 and $289 per night.

Although the project has not yet been officially approved, the agency that develops the city’s downtown, Civic San Diego, received the proposal with enthusiasm. If approval is forthcoming, construction could start in 2019, with an opening date in 2020.

Projects like this can benefit if developers work with a brochure printing company to create booklets that clearly show the amenities offered at the site.
