February 28, 2018 by

Now is the time for runners and their dogs to begin training for the upcoming Doggie Dash Certified 5K and 10K Run/Walk coming toward the end of March. The Dash will be a fundraiser for the Haven Humane Society.

Individual registration will be $25 for either race. Runners are advised to pre-pay for event T-shirts, which will be handed out before the race. There will be no charge for children 10 and under but they do need to register. Dogs are invited to run or walk with their humans.

Both the 5K and 10K will start at Sundial Bridge’s south end. The 5K runners will go north on the bridge and turn right onto the footbridge leading to Arboretum Loop. After completing that loop, they will follow signs. then they will enter the Willow Loop, complete that and proceed on to the Arboretum Gardens. There, they will return to the Sundial Bridge, cross it and end at the finish line.

The 10K course will go east on the Eagle Trail along the Sacramento River. This will be an out-and-back route.

Spectators may want to get some banner printing done to have visual ways to support their favorite runners and canines.

The Doggie Dash will be March 24 at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, 844 Sundial Bridge Drive. Check-in will be from 8:00 am until 8:45 am, and both activities will begin at 9:15 am.
