Local dance company celebrates diamond jubilee

The Dance Depot will be presenting an evening of entertainment to mark its 60th year of offering dance classes to our community.

Titled “Diamond Jubilee”, the event will be presented in a couple of weeks. Over 250 dancers will be taking part. Dance styles will include tap, Jazz, ballet, hip-hop, Broadway, lyrical and acrobatics.

This dance extravaganza is the 60th annual spring production that the dance company puts on every year. The yearly performance is an opportunity for the company’s students to improve performance techniques and their knowledge of dance. This year will be markedly different as along with the present students’ routines, graduates from the Depot will be returning to perform. The dance company’s brochures proclaim that performers will be as young as 1 1/2 years old.

Pictures will be taken of each performer and their group after the first on-stage practice. Proud parents will be taking these pictures to printing companies to get poster printing done. A professional production video company, Redding Video Productions, will also be filming during the evening.

The event will be Saturday, June 24th at Redding Civic Auditorium, 700 Auditorium Drive, Redding. Tickets range from $10 for side balcony seats to $18 for main floor seats. The venue will open at 5:00 pm, and the performance will begin at 6:00 pm.
