Raleigh performance takes presidential theme

Another presidential race will take place soon in Raleigh—this time on stage, at the Raleigh Little Theatre.

The group is getting ready to present ‘Grace for President’, a show suitable for all ages. The production is based on the children’s book of the same name by Kelly S. DiPucchio, with the script, lyrics, and music by Joan Cushing. In the book, a little girl named Grace is amazed when her history teacher unrolls a poster showing all the presidents of the United States, and there is not one woman among them. She decides she will be the first.

She takes part in a mock election in her class, and finds herself running against a very popular boy who seems sure to win. All the other students are designated as states, so that the class forms the Electoral College. It all comes down to a boy representing Wyoming, who decides to vote for the best person for the job.

Grace for President opens Friday, October 13 in the Daniels Auditorium of the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh. The museum will open at 6:30 pm before each production of ‘Grace’ to give attendees time to take part in a treasure hunt. Complete details are on the museum’s website.

A poster printing company can create colorful posters for productions like this to draw more people in.
