Charlotte ready to Light the Night

August 8, 2013 by

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) ‘Light the Night Walk’ Kickoff is coming to Charlotte. Attendees are showing their support for blood cancer research and treatment, as well as their love for those afflicted both past and present.

They will meet fundraising teams, share materials, and learn successful fundraising tips. A poignant presentation will be followed by dinner from the California Pizza Kitchen and an outdoor screening of ‘Despicable Me’ from Universal Pictures.

Local vendors and businesses are encouraged to spread the word and sponsor the event. Poster printing and banner printing services can let people know that companies care about their community and wish to show their support to blood cancer survivors and their families.

The LLS funds research to find effective treatments — and hopefully a cure — for blood cancer. Since 1949, the organisation has fought for patients and their families. Its Light the Night Walks are held nationwide, and allow communities to gather together to show their solidarity and care for those affected by blood cancer. The Walk itself is both solemn and emotive, with thousands of people holding illuminated balloons – survivors hold white balloons, supporters carry red, and gold balloons are held in the memory of those who lost their battle.

The Light the Night Kickoff is on Sunday, August 17, from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm at The Green, Uptown 400 S Tryon St Charlotte, NC 28202. To register, or inquire about sponsoring, contact Emily Greenfield Rester at 704.705.1819. Admission is free to all registrants.
