Graphic arts come to the forefront in Portland

Design Week Portland takes place next month in the city. A variety of events will be taking place at various venues in the city.

There are set to be seminars, panel discussions, workshops on topics such as lettering and screen printing, open houses of galleries and studios, and walking tours.

The opening party will take place on April 14 at Custom Blocks from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. There will be food trucks, a live photo booth and several design exhibits and projects. Tickets are $15 each.

One notable event will be the 9th annual Letterpress Printers Fair presented by the Portland Printer’s Alliance; it will take place at Audio Cinema on April 15 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This free event is likely to attract book artists, designers and members of the public with an interest in printing processes. It will feature exhibits of traditional printing, live book arts demonstrations and interactive printmaking activities. Guests can also purchase items from vendors representing local printing companies, and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Portland graphic design professionals will no doubt be keen to attend at least one event during this weeklong festival to learn new skills or make connections with their design peers.

Design Week Portland will take place from April 14 to 21. For a complete listing of events, visit the official event website.
