Design Week promises hundreds of arts activities

Design Week Portland is taking place next month for nine days.

There are set to be many activities to be held all over the city of Portland in genres such as arts and crafts, industrial design, illustration, music and graphic design. There will be seminars, performances contests, social events and awards presentations.

The opening party will be held at The Redd on April 22 from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. Tickets are $10 each. Guests will enjoy live music, food and drink. On April 25, the Calligraphy for Designers workshop will raise money for the ACLU. It is presented the Paperfinger and will be held at the Ace Hotel. Tickets are $55 each. A Golden Age of Poster Design: Magazine Posters from the 1890s exhibition will be on display at the Pittlock Mansion on April 27; admission is free.

The 66th annual Rosey Awards from the Portland Ad Federation will take place on April 26 at The Evergreen, there will be appetizers, drinks and musical entertainment; tickets are $100 each. The Wacom Design Challenge is also planned at the Wacom Experience Center on April 29. Admission is free of charge.

Seminars will be held at the Main Stage at Rev Hall from April 21 to 22; several well-known speakers will be on hand to share their views.
