Local musicians set to shine at festival

The East Side Block Music Festival is taking place next month in Charlotte, presented by the Arts and Science Council and the Mecklenburg Parks and Recreation Department.

This is the first of what is expected to become an annual festival. It is set to feature a variety of local performers including The Queen’s Guard, David Russell and Port City Blues, and Malakia Janelle. Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the performances.

There will also be plenty of food for sale, a health fair that will likely feature free screenings, and a kids’ zone.

Vendors will be on hand to sell merchandise including handmade arts and crafts. Vendor booths are 10×10 ft. and cost $80, and food booths are 15×10 ft. and cost $150. Vendors are responsible for providing their own tables, chairs, and tents.

To help get more attention at festivals such as this, vendors, who will likely come from all around the area including Pineville, often invest in colorful signs and banners that will draw people to their booths and offerings.

The East Side Block Music Festival will be held at the Albermarle Road Recreation Center in Charlotte on September 2 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. Call 980-406-5955 for more information about this event.
