Patchogue takes an Irish touch

St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated the day after the traditional date at three locations in the area. There will be brunch, dinner, and Taste of Ireland show.

The Patchogue Elks Lodge will be presenting its annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner. Along with the traditional corned beef and cabbage, there will be colcannon soup, soda bread, and Irish coffee. Guests will be entertained with Irish step dancers.

There will be a champagne brunch featuring the traditional Irish buffet fare, with the addition of roast crab legs, shrimp salmon, and sushi rolls earlier in the day.

Mick Thomas, an Irish stand-up comedian, will be the host for A Taste of Ireland. The program will include a pipe band and Irish step dancers. There will also be the Island Hills Chorus and Gil McLean’ Musical Stylings. A cocktail reception will be held the hour before the performance. Gift certificates from local businesses will be raffled, and fans of Thomas will no doubt be asking if he has any promotional products with him for sale.

The Elks dinner will be this Sunday, March 18, at 14 Oak Street, Patchogue starting at 2:00 pm.

The Champagne Brunch will be at the View, 3 Consuelo Place, Oakdale. Four seatings will be half an hour apart, starting at 11:00 am.

A Taste of Ireland will be at 8:00 pm on Sunday at the CM Performing Arts Center’s Noel W. Ruiz Theatre 931 Montauk Highway, Oakdale. All proceeds will go to this nonprofit theater.
