Dogs heading to Orlando for AKC competition

December 15, 2017 by

The top examples of every breed are preparing for a chance for a prestigious title.

The AKC National Championship is probably the best-known dog show in the country and the most desirable title to hold for most breeders and dog owners. The show returns to Orlando again this weekend and fans are ready to see the breeds that have reached this point.

The annual competition will be awarding top contenders in a variety of categories including sporting hounds and herding dogs on Saturday. The animal chosen as the top in its category will then compete with all the other leaders on Sunday for the Best in Show award. This family-friendly event will also include a Junior Showmanship Competition and the opportunity for everyone to learn more about the many breeds that will be in attendance.

Vendors have already been chosen for this year’s two-day extravaganza, but any local pet-related businesses that want to become involved by offering promotional items or distributing their brochures at future events can contact the AKC for more information.

The championship is December 16 and 17 at Orange County Convention Center at 9899 International Drive in Orlando. General admission tickets are $10 per person per event. Children 12 and under get in free. Visit the AKC website for tickets and show times and building locations for each event.
