Annual event celebrates Mardi Gras

February 22, 2014 by

The 22nd annual Cajun and Zydeco Mardi Gras Ball is taking place this March in Cranston.

This New Orleans style party will feature live music from bands such as Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, and Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners. There will also be plenty of chances to enjoy dancing, food, and drink.

Guests can also take part in a costume contest for $250, with categories including best couple, most creative, and best individual. They can show off their costumes in a parade led by the Hot Tamales. In addition, a silent auction is also planned as part of what should be a fun night for all. Costumes are not mandatory but are certainly encouraged.

This event should be a great way to get rid of the winter blues, and it will no doubt attract guests from all over the area, including nearby Warwick. Local printing companies may be asked to provide flyer printing services to help advertise this annual party.

The Cajun and Zydeco Mardi Gras Ball is being held at the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet on March 1 from 6:00 pm until midnight. Tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door, and tables of 10 are available for $325. For more information about the event, call 401-783-3926.
