Annual awards show businesses in good health

The 20th annual Worksite Health Awards presentation is taking place this May in Providence. It is hosted by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, together with the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.

Several Rhode Island companies will be given awards for promoting a healthier lifestyle towards their employees. Nominations were accepted until the end of February for eligible companies. The winners are those that run health awareness programs, and these may include the handing out of informative literature, intervention programs for a number of physical and mental issues, an emphasis of health and safety, and those who have a set policy for health and wellness.

There are two categories in which companies can win: small business (100 or fewer employees) and large business (101 or more employees.) The winning companies will be profiled in an upcoming issue of Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

No doubt the companies who do receive awards will be making sure that their customers and members of the Providence public are aware of the honor. This may involve them investing in services like booklet and flyer printing. An item such as a flyer can then be inserted into regular customer mailings, such as bills.

The Worksite Health Awards will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on May 28 from 7:45 am – 9:15 am. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. For more information, contact Barbara Laurino at 401-521-5000.
