All about the outdoors in Allegheny County

The Plein Air Mt. Lebanon festival is taking place in the city for a week this fall. It is a presentation of the Mt. Lebanon Sunrise Rotary Club and the Mt. Lebanon Police Association. Last year, the festival raised more than $23,000 for local charities.

Artists will be taking to the streets of Mt. Lebanon with art demonstrations and open air studios. Many of the artists will be competing for various prizes. Other activities planned for the week include film showings, exhibitions, and the ‘Mt Lebo’s Got Talent’ competition.

In addition, the public can compete in the Uptown Paint Out or the Children’s Paint Out, with winners of both to receive cash prizes.

Another event taking place at the same time is Art in the Park. This is a juried art show for more than 50 artists and will also feature food vendors, live music, and activities for children. There will be a preview party and exhibit, which will allow guests to view and purchase the work of 25 local artists.

The festival will likely attract people from all over Allegheny County, including nearby Plum. Flyers have no doubt been provided by local print companies to advertise the event in surrounding communities.

Plein Air Mt. Lebanon is taking place from September 30 to October 6. The preview party will be held at the Municipal Building on October 4, beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $125.

Art in the Park, meanwhile, will be held at the 17 Academy Avenue parking lot from October 5-6. For more information, call 724-322-4395.
